Cockfighting Ring Broken Up In Ventura County

Authorities are looking for the organizers of a cockfighting operation in Ventura County which was broken up in a weekend raid.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies receive a tip that cockfighting was taking place in a rental stable on the 1700 block of South Lewis Road, in the Camarillo area just after 8 a.m. yesterday.

As deputies arrived on the scene, some 20 to 30 people fled. The officers seized more than a half dozen birds, along with some cockfight paraphernalia.

No arrests were made.
