Six men were arrested in a sweep of the Santa Clara River area in Ventura, as authorities looked for some potentially armed, and dangerous fugitives in the river bottom area.
Some 30 Ventura Police officers took part in the Wednesday morning sweep of some camps along the river near Harbor Boulevard. Four men were arrested for being parolees at large, while two others were taken into custody because they were the object of warrants. Police say the raids were the result of information they received that some of the people living in the camps had been involved in serious crimes elsewhere in the city.
A number of other people received warnings that they were illegally camping in the area, and might be cited.
