The Santa Barbara Zoo has a new resident today.
It’s a baby Masai giraffe.
Five year old Audrey gave birth to the male giraffe today, and both the mother, and its baby are reported to be doing well. The Zoo’s other female giraffe, Betty Lou, is also expecting.
The baby giraffes are part of a breeding program by the zoo, which acquired a male giraffe from Canada which is the father of the newborn giraffe, and the second one which is due any day.
