Santa Barbara Police Say They Solve Quarter Of A Century Old Cold Case Murder

Posted on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 12:43am

Santa Barbara Police say they’ve solved a quarter of a century old cold case murder.

On September 30th, 1988 Bernardo Santos Sierra was shot to death on the 1300 block of Punta Gorda Street, in Santa Barbara. Alonso Bravo, who lived at the home where the shooting occurred, was considered to be the prime suspect in the killing, but he fled to Mexico.

Santa Barbara Police detectives working with the California Department of Justice, and Mexican authorities recently found Bravo in Mexico. He was arrested March 8th. Bravo is now being held in Mexico City, but will be brought back to Santa Barbara to stand trial.

Police say they’ll release more details of the cold case arrest later this week.
