City Of Santa Barbara Rejects Proposal To Pursue Sales Tax Measure

Posted on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 2:09pm

The concept of creating a half cent sales tax to help pay for a new police station, and other infrastructure needs is now completely off the table in the City of Santa Barbara.

The City Council has rejected a proposal for a poll to see if voters would support a tax hike at the ballot box.

City officials say Santa Barbara has hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure needs it can’t pay for, from street maintenance to a long sought new police station.
