Ventura County firefighters are hoping to have a brush fire which heavily damaged two homes in the Fillmore area fully contained in the next hour.
It’s currently 80% contained.
The blaze threatened dozens of homes after starting in the Goodenough Road area just after 4 p.m. yesterday, and led to some evacuations.
But, firefighters were able to keep the blaze from damaging additional homes.
The amount of acreage burned is now actually being reduced, from an earlier estimate of 170 acres to just under 150.
Firefighters will be on the scene all day today mopping up isolated hot spots. They got a big break with the weather, with the gusty wind that quickly blew the blaze out of control yesterday easing off, to almost no wind at this hour.
