Proposed New Protections For Los Padres National Forest Focus Of Community Meeting

Posted on Monday, April 8, 2013 8:13pm

Plans to provide additional protection for parts of the Los Padres National Forest are the focus of a public hearing this week in Santa Barbara County.

Wednesday afternoon’s event at the Southern California Edison office in Goleta look at the environmental report for the latest land management plant for four national forests in Southern California, including the Los Padres.

The plans include designating nearly a quarter of the land in the Los Padres Forest as backcounty nonmotorized, which means vehicles would not be allowed.

The draft environmental impact report for the proposal has been released, and is available for review. The community meeting is set for four to seven p.m. Wednesday, at the Edison building in Goleta.
