Ventura County’s Sheriff says he’s looking at, but hasn’t taken a position yet on several proposed new state, and federal gun control measures.
In a statement, Sheriff Geoff Dean says the Connecticut school shootings last year created new debate about the longtime issue. The Sheriff says he’s received many inquiries about his stance on the issue.
Dean says he’s a supporter of the Constitution, and the Second Amendment, which is the right to bear arms. He points out that California already has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country.
But, the sheriff says he’s been talking to various elected officials about proposed new gun control measures at the state, and federal levels, and hasn’t taken a position on them yet.
