Arrest Made In Vandalism Which Closed Ventura County Elementary School Over Safety Concerns

Posted on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 7:58am

A 23 year old man has been arrested for painting threatening graffiti at a Simi Valley elementary school that authorities took so seriously they closed the school yesterday.

Simi Valley Police say they took 23 year old Steven Lazarus into custody for the incident at Justin Elementary School. Investigators say the graffiti which appeared over the weekend included swastikas, and threatening language.

They believe he acted alone, and wasn’t in a position to carry out the threats.

As a result of concern over the threats, the school was closed at noon yesterday, and students were sent home early. The school is open as usual today.
