Posted on Friday, March 15, 2013 11:09am

One Ventura Police officer is now at home, and a second is still in the hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries following a confrontation at a Ventura motel last night, in which the officers were hit by a vehicle.

Ventura Police were called to the Motel 6 on the 2100 block of Harbor Boulevard around 7 p.m. last night by a request to help evict someone.

Officers say arrived at the motel, and found the man, but as they started to escort him out of the complex, he escaped and jumped into a pickup truck.

The officers started chasing the truck on foot. While the sequence of what happened next is still unclear, but the truck hit the officers, and shots were fired by both officers.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released yet.
