Ventura County Community Getting New Police Chief

Posted on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 10:28am

A Ventura County community is getting a new police chief.

Commander Guy Stewart has been selected as the new Chief of Police for Camarillo.

Stewart grew up in Ventura County, and has been with the Sheriff’s Department for nearly three decades. He’s currently overseeing the department’s Professional Standards Bureau, but has also run the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, supervised court security at the Hall of Justice, managed patrol operations, and served in the Major Crimes unit.
Stewart will move to his new post in mid-April.

Commander Steve DeCesari, who’s been Camarillo’s Police Chief for the last seven years, will take over as head of police services for unincorporated areas of eastern Ventura County.
