Santa Barbara County Supervisors To Look At New Efforts To Lower Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Posted on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 12:10am

Santa Barbara County will look at an ambitious proposal today to try to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from baseline levels by 15% by 2020.

Santa Barbara County Supervisors are set to consider potential steps for the second phase of the County’s Climate Action Strategy.

County planners are recommending that Supervisors adopt a plan which would start with new voluntary energy efficiency and green building standards, and solar water heaters requirements, but if implementation is low, make the steps mandatory in 2015.

Other steps could include changes in areas like land use planning, transportation, and waste reduction with an eye towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
