Postal Service Approves Relocation Of Newbury Park Post Office

Posted on Saturday, March 9, 2013 12:56am

The Post Office is moving ahead with a controversial plan to relocate one of its Ventura County branches, to try to save money.

The Postal Service announced it will move the Newbury Park Station, which is in a shopping plaza on the 1600 block of Newbury Road, to the Newbury Park Carrier Annex.

It’s about two and a half miles from the current location, and is located on the 3400 block of Grande Vista Drive. There are currently no retail facilities at the Grande Vista site.

The Postal Service held a community meeting on the plan in January, and has been accepting public comments, most of which have opposed the move.

The agency says it will hear appeals until March 23rd, but that the decision has already been approved in Washington, D.C.

Officials say it will save hundreds of thousands of dollars in lease payments. There’s no word on when the switch will take place.
