Ventura County Man Will Spend The Rest Of His Life Behind Bars For 2008 Killing

Posted on Thursday, March 7, 2013 8:19am

A Ventura County man will spend the rest of his life behind bars, without the possibility of parole for a 2008 robbery, and murder.

Victor Chavira was sentenced to 109 years to life in prison, plus two additional, consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of first degree murder for the killing of Albino Ramirez.

Prosecutors say the 42 year old man repeatedly shot Ramirez in front of the victim’s pregnant wife, and three year old son.

He then stole about $30,000 from the victim’s wife at gunpoint, and threatened to kill her, and her son if she reported the crime to police.

Investigators say the victim had been trying to buy methamphetamine, but that Chavira set up a phony meeting to ambush Ramirez, and steal the money.
