Posted on Saturday, March 2, 2013 12:15am

Former Secretary Of State Colin Powell had some tough talk about America’s current budget crisis during a speech in Santa Barbara.

Speaking at a Westmont College event, Powell said there needs to be compromise, because if we don’t, government services will start to bleed. But, he says

He said you couldn’t run a 7-11 the way we’re running our country.

Powell also accused extremists in both the Republican, and Democratic parties of damaging our political system, saying they make it hard to reach compromise.

Powell is a Republican, but supported Barack Obama in the last two elections.
