Cal State Channel Islands, National Park Service To Open Joint Research Facility In Channel Islands

Posted on Thursday, February 21, 2013 11:02am

A Ventura County university will soon be offering classes with some of the most scenic views in the nation. Cal State Channel Islands has signed a deal with the National Park Service to create a joint research station in the Channel Islands.

Two existing buildings on Santa Rosa Island will be converted into facilities to host students, faculty, researchers, and a resident manager. Planned programs include a summer archeological field school, undergraduate field research in science, and resource management, and research studies.

It will also be available for use by government agencies, researchers, and other universities. The university says it will pay for the facility through grants, donations, and revenue from fees through use of the facility.
