What’s being called one of the largest manhunts in Southern California history is underway for a former LAPD officer wanted for the killings of a couple which once lived in Ventura County, as well as other attacks which left one police officer dead, and two wounded.
Authorities think Christopher Jordan Dorner shot to death Keith Lawrence and Monica Quan at their Irvine apartment complex Sunday night.
Lawrence is a former Moorpark College basketball star, while Quon was once a coach at California Lutheran University, in Thousand Oaks.
They think Dorner killed the couple as revenge for Quan’s father’s involvement in his firing.
Investigators say that early this morning, Dorner wounded a police officer in Corona, and then ambushed two Riverside police officers, fatally wounding one, and seriously injuring a second.
A warning has gone out to law enforcement officers statewide, saying they might be targets. Based on an online manifesto from Dorner, the LAPD sent out 40 protection details for department personnel considered to be potential targets.
At one point, he apparently lived in Ventura County, with California Lutheran University officials confirming he attended the Thousand Oaks based university for a semester, in 1997. The man’s vehicle is describes as being a 2005 Gray Nissan Titan, with a license plate of 8D83987.
The 33 year old man was fired by the LAPD in 2008 for making false statements.
