Two Teens Who Attended School In Santa Barbara County Victims Of Murder-Suicide

Posted on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 8:35am

There’s shock in Santa Barbara County over word that two teenagers who attended school in the area before moving to Northern California are the victims of a murder-suicide.

Calavaras County authorities say Phillip Marshall shot to death his 17 year old son Alex, and 14 year old daughter Macaila in their beds, killed the family dog, and then killed himself.

Alex had attended San Marcos High School, and Macaila La Colina Junior High School. Investigators say they aren’t sure what led to the killings.

Marshall was separated from his wife, who was out of the country when the killings occurred. Authorities say he was a former pilot, who had authored several books about government conspiracy theories.

Both teens attended high school in the small town of Murphys, where classmates in the Northern California community are holding a candlelight vigil for them tomorrow night.
