Two Arrested For String Of Vehicle Burglaries In Ventura

Posted on Friday, January 11, 2013 3:35pm

Ventura Police say they’ve arrested two men involved in a string of vehicle burglaries in parts of the city.

There have been a number of thefts in the Portola Road area during the last two months. Investigators say they zeroed in on two possible suspects, and set up an undercover meeting posing as possible buyers of the stolen items. They arrested Gilbert Villareal in a parking lot on the 4200 block of East Main Street around noon yesterday, with what they say was thousands of dollars worth of stolen items. The other man, Jeremy Delgado, tried to flee, but was captured about two blocks away. As Delgado was running away, he dropped a bag which detectives say contained a loaded sawed off shotgun.

Investigators say both men were already on probation for drug, and criminal offenses, and are members of local gangs.
