Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say a man who fled from a stolen car on food tried to hide from officers by climbing up a tree, but say it didn’t work.
A sergeant on patrol in Fillmore around 2:30 yesterday afternoon saw a car which had been reported stolen in Santa Barbara County. He pulled it over, but before the car could come to a complete stop, the driver got out and fled on foot.
Following a search by deputies, Jose Villalvazo of Fillmore was found up a tree on the 1200 block of Grand Avenue. He surrendered, and was arrested. A passenger, Jarod Aparicio, also of Fillmore, was arrested in the car. They were booked on possession of a stolen vehicle charges.
