Ventura County University Gets Grant To Support Student Chemistry Research

Posted on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 12:33am

A Ventura County University received a half million dollar grant for a chemistry research program for students, and is hoping to raise another half million to match it.

The John Stauffer Charitable Trust gave $500,000 to California Lutheran University, in Thousand Oaks, as a challenge grant.

University officials say they’ve already raised another $200,000 towards the match goal.

The money will be used to create an endowment to allow about ten students a year to conduct original research through an eight week summer program.

The funding would also allow them to attend international conferences to present their research findings.
