A mountain lion created an uproar when it paid a visit to a Santa Barbara neighborhood Monday morning, but it was safely tranquilized, and moved.

The more than 120 pound cat was spotted at about 8 a.m. in the backyard of a home on the 200 block of Apple Grove Circle, near the Santa Barbara Municipal Golf Course.

Neighborhood residents, along with students at nearby Adams Elementary School were told to stay indoors.

Santa Barbara Police surrounded the area, and called State Fish and Wildlife Agency officers.

Just before noon, the officers were able to tranquilize the adult mountain lion for relocation to an unpopulated area.
