Authorities Identify Two Pedestrians Struck And Killed On Highway 154 In Santa Barbara County

Authorities have released the names of two people who were struck, and killed on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County.

The CHP says Sara Ornelas of Santa Barbara, and Barbara Romero of Santa Ynez apparently stopped the vehicle they were in late Friday night, on Highway 154 near the Ranch San Marcos Golf Course The women went onto the highway, and were struck by oncoming vehicles. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. There were three vehicles involved. Two of the drivers stopped, but a third fled, and was arrested for felony hit and run a short distance away from the scene.

The women may have been trying to catch a dog which was in the vehicle, but got out and run onto the roadway. Highway 154 was closed for about three hours following the 11:45 p.m. Friday accident.
