A new statewide fee for hundreds of thousands of homeowners for brushfire prevention efforts is generating a lot of controversy.
It affects more than 800,000 homeowners statewide, and tens of thousands in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties.
The Ventura County Fire Department is on the record as opposing the fee. Now, Santa Barbara County is taking a stand against it.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports County Supervisors are acting after looking at the issue yesterday.
