Ventura County Based Biotech Giant Buys Genetics Company

A Ventura County based biotech giant has purchased a cutting edge genetics research company.

Amgen bought deCODE Genetics for $415 million dollars. decode is a 16 year old compnay based in Iceland which has been involved in the discovery of genetic risk factors for numerous diseases. The move is expected to increase the Thousand Oaks based company’s ability to identify people in higher rick groups for specific diseases, and allow for the more focused development of relevant treatments.
