More Than 2,000 Runners Expected For Holiday Themed Half Marathon In Ventura County

Don’t be surprised if you see Santa, or some elves running through Ventura County this weekend.

The Fifth Annual “Santa To The Sea” half marathon is set to take place on Sunday.

The 13.1 mile race starts at the giant Santa head that’s become a landmark off of the 101 Freeway in El Rio, and ends at the Marine Emporium Landing in Oxnard. Some of the runners dress up in holiday attire,

The race starts at 8 a.m. Sunday, and will prompt some temporary road closures in Oxnard Sunday morning.

The event raises toys for children in need in Ventura County, and has funded hundreds of scholarship for local community college students. Some of the runners dress up in holiday attire, adding a special holiday flair to the event.
