Ventura County’s newest school district officially has a name, but it’s no big surprise.
Members of the new school board which will run the merged Santa Paula Elementary, and Santa Paula Union High School Districts met for the first time last night.
After being sworn into office, one of their decisions was to name the new district the Santa Paula Unified School District.
Voters last month approved merging the elementary and high school districts, in an effort to improve the quality of education, and increase efficiency.
The school boards for the two existing districts will run them through the end of the current school year, while the new board is planning for the combined operations which will begin next summer.
