Santa Barbara Gets Interim Fire Chief

Posted on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 12:17am

A more than three decades long veteran of the Santa Barbara Fire Department is going to become the city’s interim Fire Chief later this month.

Pat McElroy will serve as Santa Barbara’s top firefighter until a permanent chief is selected early next year. McElroy has been with the department for 32 years, and is currently Fire Operations Divisions Chief, responsible for managing close to 100 firefighters, and nine firefighting stations.

He’ll take over for Chief Andy DiMizio, who is set to retire December 14th, after nearly four decades as a firefighter.
