Ventura County Reaches Settlement With Utility Company Over Firefighting Costs

Posted on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 12:52am

Some fire agencies will share $350,000 from a utility company, as a settlement in lawsuits filed to try to recover some of the costs from an October, 2009 brushfire in Thousand Oaks.

Fire investigators say an overheated part from a power pole fell into some brush, and triggered the blaze.

The County had originally sought more than $400,000, but County Supervisors yesterday agreed to the settlement with Southern California Edison.

The County will share the money with other agencies which helped with the firefighting effort.

No homes, or other structures were damaged by the fire.
