Ventura County Adds Its First New Fire Station In A Decade

Posted on Monday, November 12, 2012 2:16pm

Ventura County has added its first new fire station in more than a decade.

The Ventura County Fire Department is officially opening its new Fire Station 47 in Simi Valley tonight. The 7,000 square foot complex is located on the 2900 block of Erringer Road, in what’s known as the “Big Sky” development. The state of the art facility is built to the latest environmentally friendly standards, and includes solar panels.

The new station includes paramedic staffing, and as part of a realignment, allows the fire department to have emergency medical aid more readily available throughout Simi Valley.

The addition of Fire Station 47 brings the number of stations countywide to 32. It’s the first department station expansion since 2001.

The station has been in use for about three weeks now, but will be officially dedicated in a 6 p.m. ceremony, which is open to the public.
