after Oxnard Police say he stole items from an electronics store, and then punched an officer trying to arrest him in the face.

It happened just after 4 p.m. yesterday, in Oxnard. Police say Juan Acosta stole items from a store on the 1900 block of Ventura Boulevard. Store officials called police, and an officer stopped a car being driven from the scene by the Oxnard man.

They say Acosta fled on foot, punching an officer who tried to stop him. He was arrested with the use of a taser, and charged with battery on a police officer, commercial burglary, petty theft, and interfering with police communications. The officer wasn’t seriously injured.

A passenger in the car, Jesse Andrade, fled the vehicle when it was stopped, and barricaded himself in the restroom of a nearby fast food restaurant. He eventually surrendered peacefully, and was arrested for a felony probation warrant.
