Firefighters have fully contained a brush fire which caused a big scare Tuesday afternoon in the foothills above Montecito.
The fire was discovered just after noon near the top of Cold Springs Trail. The Montecito Fire Department ordered evacuations in some neighborhoods east of Cold Springs, and west of Park Lane, but just after 2:30, all evacuations were cancelled. No structures were damaged.
Firefighters used helicopters, and air tankers to slow the fire, and were helped by the lack of wind in the area.
Andrew Madsen, with the U.S. Forest Service, says what was initially believed to be a five acre fire is now being called a roughly one acre blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
