Firefighters Now Downsizing Estimates Of Size Of Brushfire In Montecito Foothills

Firefighters are now downsizing their estimates of the size of a brush fire burning in the foothills above Montecito.

The fire was spotted around 12:15 this afternoon, near the top of Cold Springs Trail. The blaze was initially reported to be about five acres, but it’s now being called about two areas. There’s little wind in the area, and helicopters have helped halt the spread of the fire.

The Montecito Fire Protection District says mandatory evacuations have been ordered north of Mountain Drive is some specific areas, including East of Cold Springs, West of San Ysidro Road including San Ysidro lane, North of East Mountain Drive, East of Hot Springs Lanes, and West of Park Lane West

People are being advised, but not ordered to evacuate above Mountain Drive are East of San Ysidro Road, East of San Ysidro Lane, East of Park Lane West, West of Buena Vista.
