Fate Of Oxnard Teacher Fired Because Of Past Work In Adult Film Industry Now In Hands Of Commission

Posted on Friday, November 2, 2012 12:15am

The question of whether an Oxnard middle school science teacher fired because her past work in the adult movie industry had surfaced should get her job back is now in the hands of a three person commission.

The Commission on Professional Competence completed a several day long hearing on an appeal by Stacie Halas of her firing by the Oxnard School District.

The district fired her in March, after some adult movies she made in 2005, and 2006 surfaced on the internet.

District officials say she never disclosed she worked in the adult film industry before she was hired, and lied when confronted about her past.

Her attorney says she didn’t lie about her past when she was hired, but was never asked. Halas told the panel she made the films when she was broke, and desperate. She says she regrets what she did, but turned her life around, and became a teacher.
