A Ventura man has been arrested for starting a fire in an area that’s been hit by a series of blazes recently.
Ventura firefighters, and police were called to the area of the Ventura River bottom, and the 101 overcrossing just before seven this morning by reports of smoke.
Firefighters didn’t find a fire burning, but police found Jarrett Bruck leaving the scene. They say he apparently had started a fire to try to burn the plastic insulation from some electrical wiring. The 25 year old homeless man was charged with trespassing, and recklessly starting a fire. The area has been hit by a series of brush fires in recent week which have been linked to homeless camps in the area.
