Posted on Friday, September 28, 2012 12:16am

The National Labor Relations Board has again admonished a South Coast newspaper for bargaining in bad faith with its newsroom employees, and has ordered the newspaper to comply with legal practices.

It’s the latest blow against the Santa Barbara News Press, which has been the focus of controversy since a fight between its owner, and top news managers, who claimed the publish was trying to exert improper editorial control over the paper’s content. Owner Wendy McCaw claimed that her staff acting with its own agenda.

The controversy received national attention, with most of the news staff being fired, or resigning.

Among the elements of the ruling in a 93 page document was an order for the newspaper to stop using freelancers to skirt the use of union workers.
