Metrolink To Beef Up Service To Ventura County To Try to Help Ease “Carmageddon” Impacts

Posted on Thursday, September 27, 2012 12:47am

Metrolink has announced plans to beef up its commuter rail service to Ventura County over the weekend, to try to ease the impacts on the full closure of the 405 Freeway due to construction work.

The 405 will be closed through the Sepulveda Pass from Friday night until Sunday due to the work. The shutdown has been dubbed “Carmageddon Two” by the media, because of the potentially huge impacts of the shutdown of the freeway. However, a similar shutdown of the pass for the project last year happened without major problems.

Metrolink says it will add seven weekend round trips to its Ventura County line. For Ventura County residents, Metrolink is offering a ten dollar pass which is good for unlimited trips from 7 p.m. Friday, through the last train on Sunday.
