Firefighters battling a brushfire in a rugged, remote area of Ventura County, near the Ventura-Los Angeles County line say it’s now 80% contained
The blaze was first reported at around 8:30 Sunday morning, off of Highway 126 near the Newhall Ranch area. Firefighters aided by helicopters, and an airplane have been fighting the fire, which at one point was estimated to be 100 acres, but has now been downsized to about 80 acres. In addition to Ventura, and Los Angeles County firefighters, state, and City of Santa Paula firefighters are involved in the efforts to control the blaze.
No structures were in danger. Firefighters had to contend with the heat, and rugged terrain but say there isn’t much wind, so the blaze moved slowly.
There’s no word on what sparked the fire.
