A search for evidence in connection with a murder in Ventura County last month led to the seizure of hundreds of birds believed to have been used for cockfighting.
Authorities raided a business on the 15000 block of West Telegraph Road in Santa Paula, and discovered the birds, along with what they say were items connected with the July 28th stabbing of Guadalupe Fernandez.
Many of the birds, which included cockfighting roosters, and hens were in bad physical condition, and had to be euthanized.
Officials say they also found evidence indicating a large scale cockfighting operation was based at the site.
No arrests have been made in connection with the raid.
