Posted on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 12:28am

A Ventura County veterinarian has received the American Veterinary Medical Association’s highest honor.

The association presented its 2012 AVMA Award to Dr. James Peddie of Ventura, at the organization’s national convention in San Diego. The award is presented for tireless efforts to improve the lives of animals, and people.

Dr. Peddie is a Cornell University graduate who’s practiced for decades in Ventura County, and for 30 years served as a teacher, and administrator of the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College. In addition to his work as a veterinarian, he’s credited with helping to create laws to protect exotic animals in the state, and has mentored thousands of people involved with animal care.
