Rocket Launch From Vandenberg Air Force Base Postponed For Third Time

Posted on Friday, August 3, 2012 11:35am

The launch of a rocket carrying a classified payload of satellites into orbit from Vandenberg Air Force bases has been postponed for a third time, now until at least the middle of this month.

The Atlas Five rocket was originally supposed to lift off from Santa Barbara County early Thursday, but the launch was first postponed to Friday, and then to early Saturday morning. Now, it’s being delayed until at least August 14th.

Officials are citing the same reason for the first two delays, issues with some of the ground instrumentation systems. They say there are no problems with the actual rocket, or its payload.

The secret payload is believed to include as many as 13 small satellites.
