Defense Request For Delay Granted In Ventura County Triple Murder Trial

Posted on Friday, August 3, 2012 10:42am

Additional charges filed against a man accused of brutally killing a Ventura County couple, and their unborn child prompted a judge to grant a defense motion to delay the start of the trial.

Joshua Packer was supposed to go on trial next week for the May, 2009 slayings of Brock and Davina Husted, as well as their unborn child at their Faria Beach home.

In May, prosecutors added sexual assault charges to the robbery, and homicide counts Packer was already facing.

A judge ruled this week that in light of the new charges, the defense could have more time to prepare its case, and moved the start date to January.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the 22 year old man.
