Legislation Endorsed by Ventura County D.A. To Help Fight Real Estate Fraud Signed Into Law By Governor

Posted on Monday, July 16, 2012 4:32pm

The governor has signed into law legislation to help fight real estate fraud which was co-sponsored by Ventura County’s District Attorney.

Senate Bill 1342 allows counties to raise the real Estate Fraud Trust Fund Fee from the current fee of $3, to a maximum of $10.

The money would provide counties will additional resources to fight real estate fraud, which prosecutors say has spiked in recent years, especially against non English speaking buyers.

Ventura County District Attorney Greg Totten joined with the state District Attorney’s Association to support the bill, which they feel will give them additional resources to combat the problem
