A Ventura County woman is facing embezzlement charges, after County Sheriff’s detectives say she took, and used for personal purposes more than $35,000 from a youth football league over a two year period.

Investigators say that in 2010, the Ojai Eagles Youth Football organization was notified by the State of California that its non-profit status was suspended, for failure to file tax returns from 2007, to 2009.

Organization officials started investigating, and called authorities when they found major problems. Detectives say they discovered that the group’s treasurer, Amber Workman, obtained a debit card, and withdrew money from the account for personal use over a two year period.

The investigators say the 42 year old Ojai woman embezzled between $35,000 and $49,000 between 2007, and 2009. She was arrested, and booked at the Ventura County Jail for embezzlement.
