Ventura County Finalizes $1.7 Billion Dollar Budget

Posted on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 1:04pm

Ventura County might be able to show the state a thing or two about coming up with a new budget, approving a 1.7 billion dollar spending plan which was able to avoid major program, or job cuts.

There was no major controversy during the public hearing process leading up to last night’s final vote by the County Board of Supervisors.

The no frills budget only offered limited raises.

Thanks to changes in contracts with employees, workers are now contributing more than in the past to pensions, but it’s an ongoing question mark in county spending, depending on the rate of return for investments.
