Security Guard Accused Of Stealing Pro Baseball Memorabilia From School Campus he was Supposed To Be Guarding

Posted on Thursday, June 14, 2012 4:00pm

A security guard is facing felony burglary, and petty theft charges after Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies say the man stole pro baseball memorabilia from a school campus he was supposed to be guarding.

Deputies responded to an alarm just after 12 a.m. today in the gym at Lakeview Junior High School, in Orcutt.

They discovered someone had broken into a display case carrying memorabilia from former major league baseball player, and current Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura, who had attended the school.

The deputies encountered a man who identified himself as a school security guard, and then noticed an autographed baseball in his pocket.

A search of Cameron James Taylor also turned up part of the broken display case lock in a pocket.
