Santa Barbara Man Accused Of Raping Lost Teenager He Offered To Help

Posted on Friday, June 8, 2012 11:11am

A Santa Barbara man is facing multiple sexual assault charges, after they say he raped a lost Goleta teenager he met on a bus.

Police say the 14 year old girl was kicked out of her home after an argument with her parents, and was headed towards a friend’s home in Santa Barbara. She was uncertain of the address, but investigators say when she met Rogaciano Rodriguez Mayo on a bus, he offered to help. The teen went to his home, where police say she was attacked. The investigators say he then released her, and even walked her to a nearby store where she was supposed to meet a friend.

Detectives say after an investigation, they arrested him this week for the May 30th incident. They say Mayo confessed to the incident. He’s facing multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Because of the incident leading up to the girl leaving her home, investigators say the teenage victim is in the custody of Santa Barbara County’s Child Protective Services.
