Strickland, Brownley Set To Face Off In 26th Congressional District: Capps, Maldonado Up Against Each Other In 24th This Fall

Posted on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 6:50am

Yesterday’s primary set the stage for a number of congressional races this fall in our region.

For the new 26th District Congressional seat, in Ventura County, current Republican State Senator Tony Strickland will face Democratic Assemblywoman Julia Brownley. Brownley edged out Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, who ran as an independent, to run against Strickland in November.

In the 25th Congressional District, which includes a slice of eastern Ventura county, but is mostly Los Angeles County, Republican Buck McKeon will face Democrat Lee Rogers in November.

And, in the 24th District, which includes parts of Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties, longtime Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps will be up against Republican Abel Maldonado this fall.
