Reward Being Offered In Mysterious Disappearance, Death Of Woman In Calabasas Area

Posted on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 11:03am

A reward is being offered in the mysterious disappearance, and death of a young woman in the Calabasas area.

Mitice Richardson was arrested in September of 2009 after she failed to pay for a meal at a Malibu restaurant. The 24-year-old woman was taken to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lost Hills station in Calabasas, where she was released early the next morning. Her car had been impounded, and she didn’t have a purse, or cell phone with her.

An unsuccessful search was started for the woman. Her skeletal remains were found in Malibu Canyon more than 10 months later.

The family sued the Sheriff’s Department over the handling of her release, and the following investigation, reaching a $900,000 settlement.

The $15,000 reward from the cities of Agoura Hills, and Calabasas, and the Sheriff’s department is for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death, although authorities aren’t saying whether they consider it was a homicide.
