Investigators Trying To Figure Out What Led to Van Hitting Woman, Three Children In Thousand Oaks

Posted on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 6:15am

Authorities are trying to determine why a van hit a woman, and her three children in the crosswalk in a Thousand Oaks street, seriously injuring all of them.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say the group was on the 2600 block of East Thousand Oaks Boulevard just after 1:30 yesterday afternoon, trying to cross the street in a crosswalk when a westbound van hit them.

The woman was pushing a stroller with an infant, which she was able to push out of the way to safety. But, the woman, and her three, five, and six year old daughters were all critically injured. Two of the three children injured in the accident were transferred to a Los Angeles hospital.

The driver of the van was questioned, but not held as the investigation continues. The heavily used crosswalk is well marked, but there is no stoplight.
